New Florida lottery: The winners are here
More than 20,000 people are set to receive tickets to the lottery this week in the state of Florida, with more than 30,000 lottery winners to be notified in the coming weeks.
The Florida Lottery Corporation (FLCC) says more than 6,000 winners have already registered online, with about 7,000 more set to join the rolls later this month.
The number of registered tickets to be distributed at the State Fair of Florida this weekend is expected to be more than 14,000.
With just under 10,000 tickets sold in the first four days, the Florida Lotteries Association has seen the number of new registrations in its lottery system rise to over 14,200 this year, with 2,000 additional tickets to follow in April.
There have already been over 4,000 new registrations this year for the 2016-2017 State Fair, with the first wave expected to include about 2,200 tickets.
The 2016-17 State Fair will be held from March 31 to April 3, with another 7,200 entries expected to open this year.
The Florida Lotters Association said on Thursday that it is looking for more people to join its lottery registration platform.
“It’s not too late for Florida to increase participation,” said the association’s executive director, David Geddes.
The association expects a surge of registrations this week.
About 6,300 people are registered for the Florida State Fair lottery, according to a spokesperson for the association.
According to a survey conducted in March, more than 80 per cent of people said they want to be able to register to the 2016 State Fair for the first time.
Some of the most popular sites for registering are Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as Google and Bing.
As of Friday, the number had been boosted by a couple of hundred people from the previous week, with almost 20,200 registered.
Last year, the association reported that nearly 9,000 registrants were able to enter the lottery.
