How the Las Vegas Nevada Lottery Went to Win Kentucky Lottery Tickets
Kentucky’s state lottery on Monday awarded $1 million in lottery tickets to two couples who were awarded the lottery prize money in a lawsuit filed by two Kentucky women.
The Kentucky Lotteries’ lottery director said that the lottery was awarding the $1.6 million in prize money “as a matter of policy,” The Courier-Journal reported.
Two women sued in January after they claimed they won a $1,400 prize when they bought lottery tickets with money they won in a previous state lottery.
“We’re very pleased to have been selected as the winners of the lottery’s first prize money,” a spokesperson for the Kentucky Lotters said in a statement.
“The lottery’s official policy is to award winners the money for winning the lottery, but as a matter a policy, lottery officials are responsible for enforcing this policy in their jurisdictions.”
The Kentucky lottery received its $1 billion first-ever lottery jackpot in 2015 and had previously won $1 and $2 million in 2015.
The jackpot was announced in 2016, and the Kentucky lottery has won $7.7 billion in lottery prizes.
